Learning & Teaching Committee
General Description:
The Learning and Teaching Committee of the College of Arts (LTC) is answerable to the academic staff of the college and the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the College of Arts, and is also advisory to the Pro-Vice Chancellor.
Membership of the LTC shall include the Dean of Creative Arts; the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences; the College Academic Manager; academic staff from the Creative Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities; the College of Arts representative from the Acadmic Development Group (ADG); and up to four co-opted members as the discretion of the Committee.
The PVC appoints the LTC chair. The LTC shall meet regularly and on other occasions when deemed necessary by the chair. The chair of the LTC reports to the AMC and to the general Faculty meetings. The LTC chair or his or her nominee represents the College of Arts on the University Teaching and Learning Committee and other appropriate bodies within the University and the College of Arts.
Tasks of the Committee:
The overall function of the LTC is to initiate discussion, at the college-wide level, of teaching and learning issues. In conjunction with College programmes, the LTC shall review the courses provided that year in the light of enrolments, student course appraisals, and results. The Committee will also arrange biannual teaching forums and award teaching prizes.
